Hi everyone! Today I’m going to review the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. This masque was recommended to me by two of my friends when I complained about the redness on my cheeks near my nose and the size of my pores there, which is pretty huge compared to the rest of my face. It was becoming a problem when I wore makeup because the makeup would enhance the appearance of the pores, but I had to put makeup there because of the redness. The Mint Julep Masque, along with St. Ives Apricot Scrub, was recommended to me to reduce the redness and appearance of pores on my face.
From what research I have done, this masque doesn’t have any real mint in it, but regardless of that, it didn’t surprise or alarm me when it tingled. After it dried, I rinsed it off and I definitely thought that my pores looked a bit smaller. It made my entire face feel very soft, and a blemish I had was significantly less red. I applied moisturizer after I used it, so that it didn’t dry out my skin too much. I didn’t notice that much difference in my blackheads, though, so it didn’t seem to live up to its promise there. Overall, I was pleased with the masque.
I have continued to use this masque, often using it as a spot treatment or putting it only on the red spots of my cheek and on my chin, which tends to break out a lot. The only problem I have had with this masque is that I used it on my very dry, flaking, winter abused skin, without thinking about the fact that this product dries out your skin as well as lessens the redness, and I was not happy when my skin started flaking more. Definitely don’t use this if you have incredibly dry skin! I am happy with this product, and I will continue to use it as the weather gets warmer and my skin returns to its normal combination state! It is a really great product to use on a spa night, because of the nice smell and the way it makes your skin feel after you use it. I give it a 4.5 out of 5, mainly because I don’t feel like it lives up to its promise to help with blackheads. I hope this is useful! If you know of any other products I should try to reduce the appearance of pores on my face or the redness that I can't seem to get to go away, let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!
