I am excited to announce thatIn a little over a week, I am going to begin working at the local children's museum as the assistant manager, and I can barely contain my excitement. Yes, it is true! If you have read the about section of this site, you know that some of the things that I want to do with my life include running an educational program and helping out more in my community, and this job allows me to dabble in both of those things, as well as even more of my interests. I will get to: -Work with children -Develop and execute educational programs -Continue to work with social media and marketing -Make a difference in children's lives -Get experience in museum work -Develop museum exhibits -LIVE THE DREAM! It was a huge step for me to leave my current job for new, unexplored territory, but I am positive that it is the right step for my life! I can't wait to get started! My first day is July 29th, so send good thoughts my way if you happen to think of it on that day!

Hi, I'm Marissa. I'm 23, currently working to live/pay off student loans/eat delicious food. This is going to become the About page of the site, with modifications, I'm sure. I am a college graduate with a degree in Liberal Arts, concentration in Humanities and Social Thought, focus in Literature, minor in French. I have a cat, Éowyn, who is really mean to me in general and doesn't let me pet her, but is really cute when she wants to be. I have a dog, Bentley, that my boyfriend and I rescued from a shelter. He is super cute, and is slowly growing on me. I have a boyfriend, Casey. He's pretty cool. I have a mom, dad, and three siblings, one younger sister and two younger brothers. I love cats (I'm definitely a cat person), I'm obsessed with food, I think that textile art is the best kind of art (especially crocheting, knitting, quilting, weaving and spinning), I adore the novels/mind of Louise Erdrich, and my family and friends are what keep me happy. I love to read, I'm interested in clothing and makeup as much as I can afford to be, and if I could own as many pairs of shoes as I want they wouldn't fit into my closet. I want to learn how to: speak French fluently, weave, spin, promote feminism, be more kind, run an educational program (for kids or adults, the topic is flexible), do more good in my community, cook, bake, sled, camp, take portraits, decorate my home, and more. The purpose of this blog is to give myself a creative outlet where I can express my opinion and practice writing to an audience without feeling self conscious about my opinions. So exciting, I know! I'm not sure the frequency with which I will post, I'm new to this so I will be learning as I go. I'm hoping to do at least one post a week, though. You can also find me on Tumblr, Pinterest, and Instagram, by clicking on the Other Social Media tab in the site navigation. I hope you'll visit again soon! |
